How we compare
An honest comparison,
including where we lose.
Nobody buys software because they saw a comparison table. You buy it because the alternatives cost more, in money or in evenings. So here are the three real ones, including where we lose.
Swipe the table sideways for the other three columns.
| After The Table | ChatGPT alone | Hiring someone | Doing nothing | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Answers every review in your voice | yes | no | yes | no |
| Keeps your Google profile fresh | yes | no | yes | no |
| Builds and updates your website | yes | no | yes | no |
| Answers your guests on your site | yes | no | yes | no |
| Works nights and weekends | yes | no | no | no |
| Nothing to train or manage | yes | no | no | yes |
| Runs without you logging in | yes | no | yes | yes |
| What it costs a month | from 30 euro | 20 euro plus your hours | 2,000 euro and up | nothing, in money |
Against ChatGPT on its own
ChatGPT can write a good reply. It cannot see that a review arrived, it does not know how your place talks unless you tell it every time, and it cannot post anything to Google. So you are still the one checking, pasting and remembering. That is the part that stops happening in week three, and it is the whole job.
Where we lose
If you enjoy writing the replies yourself and only want help with the wording, a chat window is cheaper and perfectly good.
Against hiring someone
A person is better than us at nearly everything on this list. They also cost two thousand euro a month and up, they are not there at eleven on a Saturday night, and the work is too small to fill a job. Most restaurants that try this end up with a freelancer who does it for two months.
Where we lose
If you have enough work for a real marketing person, hire the person. We are not a replacement for someone with judgement.
Against doing nothing
Doing nothing is free and it is what almost everyone picks. The cost is invisible: reviews nobody answered, a Google page that says you close at ten when you close at eleven, and a guest who picked the place around the corner because their page looked alive. You never see the guest you lost.
Where we lose
If your restaurant is full every night on regulars and word of mouth, nothing here is urgent. Come back when it is quiet.
Try it against your own alternative.
Three days free on your own restaurant. Then judge.
